St Mary's Catholic Primary School

St Mary's Catholic Primary School

At St Mary’s, we support our children to learn with confidence, understanding and self-discipline, while growing as caring individuals.

We wish to offer all children the opportunity to develop their potential as fully as possible in a loving, ordered, caring and secure environment where there is room for exploring, for experiencing and for excitement.

Our school is a setting for living, sharing, experiencing and celebrating our Catholic faith and we have a concept of human life and human dignity with its roots in the Gospel.

We encourage the positive realisation of self-worth in each individual with particular emphasis on the partnership of home, school and parish.

We provide a learning environment that is supportive, attractive and challenging – an environment in which children can develop their individual potential through a variety of learning situations.

The curriculum is broad, balanced, differentiated and relevant.

Children are given equal access to all areas across the National Curriculum.

Pupils gain an appreciation of and respect for other faiths and cultures through our ‘Come and See’ Religious Education programme and also through our pastoral activities and ethos.

Children learn to accept responsibility, to be answerable for their actions and to develop a sense of justice and fair play.

We believe most strongly in the importance of each child having a positive self-image – a vital component if satisfying relationships are to be developed and maintained. Good learning patterns develop when children’s self-worth is strong, validated and nurtured.

We share curriculum information with parents annually. Our weekly homework/ information sheets, issued from Nursery through to Y6, enable parents to gain an understanding of what is being covered in class and how they can help their children at home.

For more information about the curriculum, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Boucher.
