Life's daily challenges puts our bodies through a lot of stress!  Aches and pains can be caused by everyday activities, injuries, illness or just simply ‘wear and tear’.   Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focusses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the body, with emphasis on the spine.  It is a straight forward manual therapy, aiming to improve joint function and rebalance your body, helping to relieve pain and discomfort, allowing the body to heal naturally.

I use the McTimoney chiropractic technique, which is a gentle and effective approach to whole body health, making it suitable for people of all ages.  I check the whole body, from head to toe, and offer self-care advice to facilitate optimal healing and lasting health. I aim to work with you to achieve your health goals – be that a reduction in pain, improved function, or simply feeling happier in your own body. I also work with other professionals to be able to offer a 'best practice' approach to your care, tailored to your needs; this may involve referral for acupuncture, massage, physiotherapy, nutritional advice or exercise, where appropriate.

Please call if you wish to discuss any specific condition or general aches and pains and we can talk about how chiropractic may help you.

About Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a primary health care profession focussed on the diagnosis, treatment and

prevention of disorders of the muscular and skeletal systems. All Chiropractors undergo

extensive training, approved by General Chiropractic Council.  They have broad diagnostic

skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as

to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle advice.

Chiropractic care is used regularly by a wide range of people to help maintain good posture,

promote health and improve performance. Chiropractors use highly specific manual tehniques

on the spine and other joints and soft tissues, and also offer exercise advice and lifestyle

counselling. Patients undergoing chiropractic care often report benefits from back, neck and

shoulder pain, sciatica, general joint and muscle pains, neck related headaches and migraine,

arthritic pain and many other conditions.

What to expect

Your first appointment will involve taking a full health history, completing a physical assessment and discussing an appropriate treatment plan. If we are both happy to continue, it will also include your first treatment.

Subsequent visits include a review of your progress and ongoing treatment as appropriate. At each visit your body will be checked from top to toe and adjustments made where necessary - a bit like an MOT for the body!

How many sessions will you need?

This is a hard question! Normally between 3 and 6 sessions will get you back on track but is dependant on the presenting condition, your age, general health and lifestyle. Initially weekly visits are recommended, then we can space out subsequent treatments as you improve.

Your progress is discussed at each session to make sure we are both happy to continue treatment. Referral to other healthcare practitioners may be used if we feel that this would be a better route for you.

After the initial treatment period, many people choose regular visits for a check up, or simply come when they feel they need it.

Fees

The first session, including health history, assessment and first treatment, costs £70. Subsequent sessions, including progress review and treatment are £45 each.

You may be able to claim back a proportion of the treatment costs if you are in a healthcare insurance scheme - please check with your provider or call me if you need any more information. I am registered with Aviva, Axa PPP, Simply Health, Vitality Health and WPA.
