WalkRide Marple

A group of local people covering the wider Marple area who came together in 2019 to promote the health, environment and economic benefits of walking and riding in all its forms including scooters, cycling and horse riding. We lobby Stockport Council and elected Councillors about various issues including safe zones around schools, cycle routes and parking, pavement parking, speed limits and a future for Marple that prioritises people above the simple movement of traffic. We carry out street audits, hold occasional meetings and social events, and have been very involved in trying to make sure the Marple Transport Study doesn’t simply end up making life easier for vehicles and harder for people not in vehicles. We are part of a wider Greater Manchester ‘WalkRide’ movement that is having an effect at regional level.
