About Stockport Samaritans

We serve as a listening ear for our local community, with ordinary people supporting those struggling to cope, round the clock, every single day of the year.

From our base in Heaton Moor, we offer emotional support by person, by telephone or by email. However, we proudly support the whole of Stockport, as well as neighbouring areas.

In 2019, our Stockport branch took took 22,744 calls for help.

There are about 25-30 suicides per year in Stockport.

Volunteering at Stockport Samaritans

Everyone in our branch is a volunteer, and we are always looking for support locally. We have over 100 volunteers from a variety of backgrounds.

Being a volunteer can help change lives, and we are always looking for people to help provide this vital listening service.

Not everyone wants to be a listening volunteer however, and there are so many other ways to support Stockport Samaritans, such as administration, fundraising, or publicity. There's something for everyone.

COVID-19 Update:

Stockport Samaritans are offering a crucial service during these difficult and unprecedented times. Demands for our service are high, whilst opportunities to raise funds to keep our branch running are having to be cancelled.
